Why hammer a surface that won't be fully visible? The hammered texture is visible along the underside edge and catches light differently than a smooth basin, adding a handcrafted detail even in an undermount installation. Will the brass tarnish? Yes, over time it develops a natural patina consistent with solid, unlacquered brass fixtures.
Pairs well with stone or concrete countertops where a mix of smooth and textured surfaces is part of the design intent.
